The United States was founded 244 years ago. The full name of the United States is the United States of America. It is a federal republican constitutional country composed of Washington, DC, 50 states, Guam and many other overseas territories. It was established on July 4, 1776.

The United States is a highly developed capitalist country. In the two world wars, the United States and other allies won victory. After decades of the Cold War, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it became the only superpower and leads the world in economic, cultural, industrial and other fields.

Development history of the United States

The United States was originally a settlement of Indians. Until the end of the 15th century, the arrival of Spain, the Netherlands, France, and the British established multiple colonies in the United States. In 1775, the American people's War of Independence broke out against the colonial rule of the British Empire.

On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress was held in Philadelphia. George Washington, commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, issued the Declaration of Independence, declaring the formal establishment of the United States of America.

The War of Independence ended in 1783, and Britain recognized the independence of 13 colonies. In 1787, the United States Constitution was adopted and a federal state was established. From 1861 to 1865, the Civil War broke out in the United States. Abraham Lincoln led the free states of the North to victory over the slave states of the South. The United States has since ended its "half-slave, half-free state."
