The owner claimed that no one could write the fortune, so the scholar thought of the hardships and wrote the word "biang". The shop owner was overjoyed and invited him to eat noodles. After that, the scholar became the top student in high school, and the reputation of biangbiang noodles spread.

How did biangbiang noodles come about

In ancient times, a poor scholar from Longdong wanted to go to Xianyang, the capital, to take an exam. In order to raise money, he went to Dingbian and sold a load of salt, planning to take it to Xianyang to sell. When he walked to Binxian and Yongshou areas, he suddenly encountered bandits who robbed him of salt and dry food. In order to rush for the exam, the scholar had to carry an empty load and beg along the road. After eight days and eight nights, he finally entered the capital Xianyang. At this time, he was hungry and thirsty. He happened to see a noodle shop. The scholar knew that people in the city were engaged in business and were not as good as in the countryside and could not directly beg for food, so he went forward to beg for a bowl of noodle soup.

While drinking noodle soup, the scholar struck up a conversation with the shopkeeper and asked him why he didn’t put up a sign. The shop owner said: "My biangbiang noodle shop has actually wanted to hang a sign for a long time, but no one could write it." The scholar thought for a moment and said, "Can I let the boy try it?" The shop owner asked the waiter to prepare pen, ink, paper and inkstone. The scholar thought about the hardships along the way, and immediately muttered something: "I carried a load and walked all over the country, and it took eight days to reach the capital Xianyang; you are split, and he is split, and there is Prince Yan sitting in the middle; you are long, and he is long, and there is a horse in the middle. The shop owner was overjoyed and invited the scholar to eat noodles. He ate a large bowl of noodles with relish and praised the noodles repeatedly. When the scholar left, the shopkeeper blessed him: "If you eat my biangbiang noodles, you will definitely win the first prize in the exam." The scholar bowed his head and thanked him. As expected, the later scholar won the first prize and served as an official in many places. From then on, the reputation of biangbiang noodles spread in many places.
