Zeng Ji, Song Dynasty

The plums are yellow and the sun is clear every day, and the creek is full of mountains.

The green shade has not diminished in time, and the four or five oriole calls have been added.

Translation

When the plums are ripe and the weather is sunny every day, we can take a boat to the end of the stream and then take the mountain path.

The ancient trees on the mountain road are green and as dense as when we came here. There are several happy calls of oriole in the deep forest, which makes it more interesting than when we came here.

Appreciation

The first sentence of the poem describes the time of travel, indicating that it is officially the rainy season in the south of the Yangtze River, but it is sunny at this time, which makes the poet feel refreshed. The second sentence describes the travel route, and the word "que" expresses his high interest in traveling.

Three or four sentences closely follow "Mountain Travel", describing the dense shade of green trees, refreshing and pleasant. The green trees and the tranquility of the mountains in the future tense are compared with the green trees in front of the eyes and the call of the oriole, creating ups and downs, eliciting new ideas, and exaggerating the poet's comfortable and joyful feelings.
