Sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid react to form sodium chloride and water. The chemical equation of the reaction is: HCl+NaOH=NaCl+H2O. Neutralization reaction occurs between strong acid and strong alkali, releasing heat and no obvious reaction.
Introduction to sodium hydroxide
Sodium hydroxide is generally in the form of flakes or blocks. It is easily soluble in water and forms an alkaline solution. It is also deliquescent and can easily absorb water vapor and carbon dioxide in the air. You can check whether it has deteriorated by adding hydrochloric acid. Sodium hydroxide can be used as an alkaline cleaning agent in water treatment. It is soluble in ethanol and glycerin, but insoluble in propanol and ether.
Uses of dilute hydrochloric acid
1. It can be used to remove scale.
2. Use dilute hydrochloric acid to clean some toilets, walls, and floors that are yellow, black, or smelly.
3. Hydrochloric acid can also be used to prepare other inorganic substances, including calcium chloride salt for roads, nickel chloride salt for electroplating, zinc chloride salt for galvanizing industry and battery manufacturing industry, etc.
